hēi yún yā chéng chéng yù cuī
黑 云 压 城 城 欲 摧 ，
Black clouds press against the city, threatening to destroy it,

jiǎ guāng xiàng rì jīn lín kāi
甲 光 向 日 金 鳞 开 。
Armor gleams in the sunlight, golden scales spread wide.

jiǎo shēng mǎn tiān qiū sè lǐ
角 声 满 天 秋 色 里 ，
The sound of horns fills the sky, amidst the autumn colors,

sài shàng yān zhī níng yè zǐ
塞 上 燕 脂 凝 夜 紫 。
On the frontier, the rosy skin hardens in the night’s purple hue.

bàn juǎn hóng qí lín yì shuǐ
半 卷 红 旗 临 易 水 ，
Half a red flag unfolds by the Yi River,

shuāng zhòng gǔ hán shēng bù qǐ
霜 重 鼓 寒 声 不 起 。
Heavy frost weighs down the drums, their cold sound cannot rise.

bào jūn huáng jīn tái shàng yì
报 君 黄 金 台 上 意 ，
To report to you, the intention on the Golden Platform,

tí xié yù lóng wèi jūn sǐ
提 携 玉 龙 为 君 死 ！
I carry the jade dragon to die for you!
