běi fēng juǎn dì bái cǎo zhé
北 风 卷 地 白 草 折 ，
The north wind rolls the ground, white grass breaks,

hú tiān bā yuè jí fēi xuě
胡 天 八 月 即 飞 雪 。
In the eighth month of Hu heaven, snow flies.

hū rú yī yè chūn fēng lái
忽 如 一 夜 春 风 来 ，
Suddenly, a spring breeze comes overnight,

qiān shù wàn shù lí huā kāi
千 树 万 树 梨 花 开 。
Thousands of trees, ten thousands of trees, pear blossoms bloom.

sàn rù zhū lián shī luó mù
散 入 珠 帘 湿 罗 幕 ，
Scattered into the bead curtain, dampening the gauze curtains,

hú qiú bù nuǎn jǐn qīn bó
狐 裘 不 暖 锦 衾 薄 。
Fox fur is not warm, the brocade quilt is thin.

jiāng jūn jiǎo gōng bù dé kòng
将 军 角 弓 不 得 控 ，
The general’s horn bow cannot be controlled,

dū hù tiě yī lěng nán zhuó
都 护 铁 衣 冷 难 着 。
The military governor’s iron armor is hard to wear, cold as ice.

hàn hǎi lán gān bǎi zhàng bīng
瀚 海 阑 干 百 丈 冰 ，
A vast sea of ice, a hundred zhang high, forms a barrier.

chóu yún cǎn dàn wàn lǐ níng
愁 云 惨 淡 万 里 凝 。
Melancholy clouds linger over the vast expanse.

zhōng jūn zhì jiǔ yìn guī kè
中 军 置 酒 饮 归 客 ，
The central army prepares wine to bid farewell to the returning guest.

hú qín pí pá yǔ qiāng dí
胡 琴 琵 琶 与 羌 笛 。
The sounds of the huqin, pipa, and qiang flute fill the air.

fēn fēn mù xuě xià yuán mén
纷 纷 暮 雪 下 辕 门 ，
Endless evening snow falls at the military camp’s entrance.

fēng chè hóng qí dòng bù fān
风 掣 红 旗 冻 不 翻 。
The wind tugs at the frozen red flag, which refuses to wave.

lún tái dōng mén sòng jūn qù
轮 台 东 门 送 君 去 ，
At the eastern gate of Luntai, we see you off.

qù shí xuě mǎn tiān shān lù
去 时 雪 满 天 山 路 。
When you leave, the snow covers the Tianshan mountain pass.

shān huí lù zhuǎn bù jiàn jūn
山 回 路 转 不 见 君 ，
As the mountain turns and the road twists, you disappear from sight.

xuě shàng kōng liú mǎ xíng chù
雪 上 空 留 马 行 处 。
On the snow, only the traces of horse hooves remain where you once were.
