nán běi cháo táo hóng jǐng
( 南 北 朝 ) 陶 弘 景
(Northern and Southern Dynasties) Tao Hongjing

shān chuān zhī měi gǔ lái gòng tán
山 川 之 美 ， 古 来 共 谈 。
The beauty of mountains and rivers has been a shared topic since ancient times.

gāo fēng rù yún qīng liú jiàn dǐ
高 峰 入 云 ， 清 流 见 底 。
Tall peaks reach into the clouds, and clear streams reveal the bottom.

liǎng àn shí bì wǔ sè jiāo huī
两 岸 石 壁 ， 五 色 交 辉 。
The stone walls on both sides, with colors intertwining and shining.

qīng lín cuì zhú sì shí jù bèi
青 林 翠 竹 ， 四 时 俱 备 。
Green forests and lush bamboo groves are ready all year round.

xiǎo wù jiāng xiē yuán niǎo luàn míng
晓 雾 将 歇 ， 猿 鸟 乱 鸣 ；
As the morning mist is about to dissipate, monkeys and birds chatter chaotically;

xī rì yù tuí chén lín jìng yuè
夕 日 欲 颓 ， 沉 鳞 竞 跃 。
As the sun sets, fish compete to leap out of the water.

shí shì yù jiè zhī xiān dū
实 是 欲 界 之 仙 都 。
It is truly a fairy capital of the worldly realm.

zì kāng lè yǐ lái wèi fù yǒu néng yù qí qí zhě
自 康 乐 以 来 ， 未 复 有 能 与 其 奇 者 。
Since Kang Le, no one has been able to match its wonders.
