dān chē yù wèn biān
单 车 欲 问 边 ，
Alone, I drive my carriage to inquire about the border,

shǔ guó guò jū yán
属 国 过 居 延 。
On behalf of the vassal state, I pass beyond Juyan.

zhēng péng chū hàn sài
征 蓬 出 汉 塞 ，
As a wandering willow catkin leaves the Han frontier,

guī yàn rù hú tiān
归 雁 入 胡 天 。
Geese return to the borderlands.

dà mò gū yān zhí
大 漠 孤 烟 直 ，
The great desert with a solitary smoke rises straight.

cháng hé luò rì yuán
长 河 落 日 圆 。
The long river and the setting sun are round.

xiāo guān féng hòu qí
萧 关 逢 候 骑 ，
At Xiaoguan, we encounter the mounted guards.

dū hù zài yān rán
都 护 在 燕 然 。
The protector is in Yanran.
