wú sī shǔ tóng zhāng gāo qiū
吴 丝 蜀 桐 张 高 秋 ，
Wu silk and Shu tung, in high autumn displayed,

kōng shān níng yún tuí bù liú
空 山 凝 云 颓 不 流 。
Empty mountains hold clouds, still, unmoved, delayed.

jiāng é tí zhú sù nǚ chóu
江 娥 啼 竹 素 女 愁 ，
Jiang E weeps in bamboo, the plain maiden’s woe,

lǐ píng zhōng guó tán kōng hóu
李 凭 中 国 弹 箜 篌 。
Li Pian in China plays the harp with glee.

kūn shān yù suì fèng huáng jiào
昆 山 玉 碎 凤 凰 叫 ，
Kunshan jade shatters, the phoenix cries,

fú róng qì lù xiāng lán xiào
芙 蓉 泣 露 香 兰 笑 。
Lotus blooms weep dew, fragrant orchids rise.

shí èr mén qián róng lěng guāng
十 二 门 前 融 冷 光 ，
Twelve gates before, cold light melts away,

èr shí sān sī dòng zǐ huáng
二 十 三 丝 动 紫 皇 。
Twenty-three strings move the Purple Emperor’s sway.

nǚ wā liàn shí bǔ tiān chù
女 娲 炼 石 补 天 处 ，
Nüwa refines stones to mend the sky,

shí pò tiān jīng dòu qiū yǔ
石 破 天 惊 逗 秋 雨 。
The stone breaks the sky, startling the autumn rain.

mèng rù shén shān jiāo shén yù
梦 入 神 山 教 神 妪 ，
Dreaming into the divine mountain, teaching divine old women,

lǎo yú tiào bō shòu jiāo wǔ
老 鱼 跳 波 瘦 蛟 舞 。
Old fish leap in waves, thin dragons dance.

wú zhì bù mián yǐ guì shù
吴 质 不 眠 倚 桂 树 ，
Wu Zhi stays awake, leaning against the osmanthus tree,

lù jiǎo xié fēi shī hán tù
露 脚 斜 飞 湿 寒 兔 。
Exposed feet flying diagonally, wetting the cold rabbit.
